Gamophobia (MyLot Exclusive #554)

I always thought that Gamophobia was a fear of PAC-MAN and/or Grand Theft Tractor (If you live in a big city instead of out in the country like I do, you might play a popular but lesser-known variation called Grand Theft Auto) or even possibly Clue and/or Monopoly. I even considered that it might be a fear of all of them. But no. Gamo is the Greek word for marriage and Gamophobia is the fear of getting married, being in a relationship, or commitment. At this point, I really wish I could talk about another contribution to relationships that is credited to the Greeks, though they didn't invent it, but since this is MyLot, I will dutifully control myself. Thus limited, and also being out of time to explore the subject further, I'll just ask, "Do you know anyone who has Gamophobia? Or its' opposite, anuptaphobia, which is the fear of being alone? If you wish to talk about the other Greek consuetude that can't be talked about here, in some other venue, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

I am sure there are plenty of gamophobes out there, most of the male persuasion.

That sounds a little unfairly sexist...But probably true.

@xander6464 I don't think it is unfair if it is true.

One of my nieces has anuptaphobia. She's had five husbands, and has had a kid with each one of them. (She's on number five and has been with him for three or four years. As soon as a divorce is finalized, she's married again.)

It sounds like she likes variety, too.

@DaddyEvil I'm not sure I'd want to see what happens with this one.

@xander6464 Yeah, she trades one who pops her in the right eye for one who pops her in the nose to one who blacked her left eye... The fourth one stole all her money... I'm waiting to see what happens with the fifth one.
