Not exactly what I expected

My doctor is back from maternity leave. I did my lab and my A1c was what I thought, it is decent.
My weight is a tiny bit up.
My kidney function is fine.
We discussed my dizzy times, and the fact that my arm goes to sleep at night and other times. The doctor listened to my carotids. We talked about family history. She wanted me to get a carotid doppler.
Turns out the person who would have done the carotid doppler was not in so instead I got to have a CT scan with contrast.
We will have results at the end of the day.
I am waiting around to see if I have any allergic reactions to the dye.
I do not think I ever did that before.

This dye is put into your veins. It is radioactive so the big scanner can take pictures of the inside of your veins. That can cause a reaction. The iodine in it comes from shell fish and many people are allergic to it.

I think this is a good preventative step for me. Thanks. How was your test? Or is it tomorrow?

Did you get the dye injected directly into the carotid, or in another artery?

@BarBaraPrz No,my sister has problems but as my eye doctor says, we are not identical genetically. She has a shellfish allergy and that is the source for the iodine in this dye.

The dye goes in like an IV in the arm. Some people in the back of the hand, but my good old veins get it in the arm.

@GardenGerty How are you feeling now? No adverse reaction to the dye?

I am not sure really what "good news" would be. If this is not the problem, it might be a pinched nerve in my neck. I am not having dizzy right now, but it does not hurt to check things out. I am almost 68 years old.

@GardenGerty Well, I guess I mean I hope it's news that will let you know what the dizziness may be stemming from so it can be taken care of. You are 68 years young .

@much2say It bothered or concerned her that my entire right arm falls asleep, randomly. Mostly at night when I am sleeping.

Waiting for results sure creates anxiety. Hope the results are good.

I am not entirely certain this is the right direction for what ails me I look at it as perhaps a way to rule some things out.

I hope to have answers this evening. I do not seem to have been allergic to the dye.

Thank you. I feel like this doctor does a lot pro actively. I sure would like to avoid a stroke, which could happen with a blocked carotid. My sister has had one, blocked carotid, that is. Doc says I am at an increased risk.

They give my sister a steroid and benadryl before she has contrast.
