I grew up in Oklahoma

I grew up in Okahoma. This is the plant that my grandmothers called Tiger lilies.
Other people call some of the day lilies tiger lilies.
I was always puzzled because this flower has spots. Tigers have stripes. I thought it should be a leopard lily.
Double checking my facts before I posted I saw that they come in pink and yellow varieties as well.
I am going to move these plants this fall. There are only three. Where they grow right now they frequently get mowed down.

That was a really fun musical. I saw a surrey with the fringe on the top when I visited Nebraska this spring. In a museum.

I imagine the pure white would look wonderful. We have pure white Easter lilies but they have a different shape of flower.

@allknowing This is quite unique. It reminds me of one we called the Peruvian lily.

I love how they put their heads down and furl the petals backwards.

That's a nice one. I have white and yellow Day Lillies.
That Tiger Lilly is impressive.
Make sure to check your zone for the best time to transplant.

@GardenGerty
It could very well be but some things will call for a transplant during the growing season before they go dormant in the fall.
It should be easy to check.

My young childish mind has always questioned things. Can you imagine what a three or four year old thought when she heard that daddy was working the "swing shift". It could be an entire story.

@wolfgirl569 We had lots of oil derricks around, even in Oklahoma City proper. In my mind he was on a swing suspended from the oil derrick.

Never been to OK but have seen lots of tiger lilies before. Don't see them much around anymore. I read somewhere that the influx of asiatic lilies did them in.

They may not be as popular and sought after as Asiatic lilies. I like them all. In my reading so far I have learned some ways to propagate them once they are through blooming.

Are you able to do it now? In my country during the Covid peak period, we have virtual tour of the botanic garden.

Yes. I am going to find out when and how to do it right. There are at least three plants.

This is the traditional name for it. If you look up seed catalogues and such that is what they are called.
