So, I went off to do my mystery shop today, and was gone for several hours..When I got home I was dismayed to see the TV at was on. I asked roomie has tha tbeen on all day? He said yes..He said" I thought about turning it off, but I thought you might be home soon"..?? I said well you could have called me. I was having issues with the computer when I got back and couldn't get online. My fear was that somehow it had switched onto an online channel and had used up all of my bandwidth. Anyway, fortunately, all has been resolved. I couldn't believe I left the TV on. I would not have wasted all that e electricity for no reason..not that the TV uses that much, but it's just the principle of the thing. Have you ever accidentally left something on when you left?

When the kids were young we had a rotten, thieving underhanded Boston Terrier. When we would all leave, the TV would be on when we got home. Time after time. We scolded the kids and blamed each other for it being left on. That little dog loved to watch TV and jumped and barked if any animals appeared. We would laugh at how much she loved it. Then one day, the TV was on in early in the morning. Kids and wife are still sleeping. I go out and shut it off and seeing no one, go back to bed. A few minutes later, I heard the TV again. I went quickly this time but no one was there. I turned it off and headed back to bed but stopped in the hallway and waited this time. I heard jumping. I looked to see that tiny dog jumping 4 feet trying to lick the on button. She got it and the set went on. She hopped back on the couch and was watching the news. The kids thought it was hilarious. I did too. So the mystery was solved about who left on the TV.

Smart dog! If the cat turned it on, it would be an accident for sure.

It also happened to me forgetting to put off the fans at home, it turned on whole day and no user for we were all working and the kids were in school up to 4 in the afternoon. I was so thankful it did not explode due to overheating.

On rare occasions I leave the light where the computer button is to turn on and turn off the computer for a period of about one hour.

Well, that isn't that big of a deal. I would never go away and leave something like a TV on though. I mean I guess it is some company for the cat, but he has his Cat TV...the great outdoors!

@snowy22315 I am with you since electrical costs can be heavy for me to deal with if any lights stay on when no one is home.

@snowy22315 I understand where you are coming from. That would have made me feel a bit bad too. It's quite rare I accidentally leave anything on as I've always had the habit of switching things off as I worry about the bills. But these days I have been using less lights and using candles. One to save electricity but two because I love candles.

That is nice, but you have to be very careful with those. You wouldn't want to leave one of them burning over night..at least I wouldnt!

@VivaLaDani13 Yes, that is the trouble with candles if you are drowsy when you put them on, you can fall asleep and awake with a start..when it is half burned down. I know they used to cause a lot of fires in the old days when people would put them on their Christmas trees.

@snowy22315 Oh for sure! I have done that once in the past because I fell asleep but when I woke I sat up quickly worried about how it was doing and if maybe there was a fire. I only use them when I'm wide awake now.

Yes I had left a tv box on for many days whereby I did not even on the television at all. In a way, I am wasting a lot of electricity on this.
