Sleep Paralysis (Any spiritual Implications)?

I have being wanting to ask this question because were I come from some people believe that sleep paralysis is usually caused by the devil or some sort of evil sprit which makes me very confused as to what sleep paralysis really is.
I searched Google for answers and this is what I got:
A temporary inability to move or speak while falling asleep or upon waking.
Usually self-treatable
Usually self-diagnosable
Lab tests or imaging not required
Sleep paralysis most often occurs in people who have narcolepsy or sleep apnoea, but it can affect anyone.
From my point of view I think the reason why sleep paralysis is so scary is not just because you will suddenly become alert but realize that you are, in fact, unable to move a muscle or utter a sound, but also because this experience is often as in the case above accompanied by terrifying hallucinations.
Is there anyone that has witnessed this when sleeping? If any, please share your experience(s). And how is it viewed from were you come from? Do you think it has any spritual implications or is it sceinctific?

One of my teacher had a terrible experience.
The place he lived was close to main road and many accidents have occurred at that place...
While he lived there he had such sleep paralysis until he changed the place.
He said it felt like someone was holding his hands and legs making him unable to move..
Scary

Well I don't know what to make of your comment. It's scary I must say, more or less scriptural. I want to believe in both

Yeah,it's scary...when he was narrating we all students were scared..
I don't know what it was.. scriptural or not..but I don't care.
I believe there is a reason behind everything.

Thanks for sharing. From the comments I have read it shows that there isn't any spritual implications to sleep paralysis

I don't think it is something spiritual. It is a mixed state of consciousness. Atonia (loss of muscle control) happens during REM-sleep and it is usually gone when you wake up, but when you experience sleep paralysis it is still there when you wake up. You are awake, but not really awake.

Sleep paralysis can be treated as it is a nerve disorder. I had hallucinations for a two long years and I got it treated by a neuropsychiatrist.

Sometimes I have experienced that but mind is conscious. I just force myself to move and I make. Then when I wake up, I take several breathing and drink water.
