Yay! Finished my 8 year olds eligibility meeting to see if he has some type of learning disability or non specific learning disability.
Meeting went by pretty quick all members talked did there findings. They agreed he has LD which means he has a learning disability but it’s non specific. Which is what I have.
My husband is like but he reads so well. So I had to explain to him. LD’s are like wild cards. He can be good in several areas but have a hard time processing in different area like spelling, writing, memory. His spelling is all over the places he has ask him to spell the word CAME he spells it several different ways unlike someone with dyslexia they would spell it the same way repeatedly it still be wrong but you can see it’s consistent.
Now I’m waiting on emails to where is sign paper word fun right? Then wait for his IEP meeting to be set once’s that is complete he will have his accommodations. I done know what that will be till his meetings but imagine it not being the same as his sisters.

Well am not sure how right am I. But I don't think it's going to be a matter of concern. He would be able to as he keeps growing. Nothing to worry about.

I don’t understand what you mean? Having an LD isn’t of any concern for himself, or his education or what?

@ShyBear88 since it is non specific...as your hubby says he reads so well. I feel spelling, memory, writing he can cope up as he grows. I have come across such kid who had LD in his initial stages, but later on he became a neurosurgeon
I may be wrong in your case. Dont know

@S4mmyboy no it won’t affect logically over time but in state of learning while going to school he needs his IEP to get what he needs to be successful in the future. Many people learning disabilities once give the correct tools to help them improve or master skills go on to do many wonderful things in many different jobs such as doctors or teachers actors and writers. He will have a hard time with memory how it will impact won’t know till he is much older.
It just caught his dad off guard because he has a typical brain and with a high IQ and is married to someone that has an LD. Also with his being none specific learning disabilities it also means they will not have a set therapy for him since it’s pretty much trying a bunch of things till you find one that work one a style likes teaching and see a lot of kids having success in.

Each child is different so I do not know as of now what he’ll get. Most like yes he’ll has a resource teacher (special Ed teacher) there the teacher will work on things with him independently or in a group setting or both with his spelling, writing and reading skills. Non specific Learning disability is what he which means he doesn’t fit any one specific learning disability like Dyslexia.
Most kids they have a sped class is like 50/50 with that specific teacher and there normal teachers. Most of our school has one assigned to each grade and the other classmates know them as assistant teachers

@prashu228 LD’s a never clear that is why there are none specific because they are not give a name. What he’ll receive as of his IEP will be up to the schools to determine based on the information from the test they have done.

I didn’t expect to not go well. It was either they found something or they didn’t.
