Day 40
Exodus 17:3 And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, “Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?”
4 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, “What shall I do unto this people? They be almost ready to stone me.”
5 And the LORD said unto Moses, “Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smote the river, take in thine hand, and go.
6 “Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7 And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us, or not?”
People are ready to blame God for everything that goes wrong in their lives. Their memories are short about the good things He blessed them with and are ready to believe He doesn’t care about their circumstances.
Israel was in the wilderness without water. Instead of trusting God to provide, they blamed Him and believed He brought them into the wilderness to kill them. They forgot already the manna and quail He provided for their food.
As Christians, it’s easy to forget your blessings and the good times when trouble comes your way.
God promised to never leave or forsake you. He doesn’t bring trouble on you. Only one person does that, Satan.
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV)
James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Satan will do what he can to turn you from God and His blessings. Don’t let him. Call Satan to account for the evil in your life and trust God to bring you through.
Let’s pray: Father, forgive me for my forgetfulness of Your blessings on my life when Satan comes against me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
