How do you deal with living in the world of "Big Brother"?

I had a simple desire today. I wanted to go to a San Francisco Giants baseball game. As a former baseball player, I like to catch batting practice home runs and give them to children in the bleachers. I contacted the the Giants by email, and even was allowed to leave a phone message. All I want to know is whether the Giants will be having batting practice before today's game. I have not heard back by email or phone. The end result is that I will go swimming today, and not spend $60 or so on ticket prices, hot dogs, and beer. And several children, who might have become life-long fans of baseball, will not. Has "Big Brother" affected your ability to be a participating citizen of your community?

Is this a case of Big Brother or just Corporate Apathy?

Is there a difference? But I actually got a call from the Giants at about 2 PM today, as I was discussing the situation with a fellow baseball fan. I am going to head to the game.

@TheHorse Big Brother means spying and overbearing control to me. This feels more like a case of "we Don't Care About Our Customers" to me.

@TheHorse You're probably right. I'm just a greeting cards salesman. I don't know much about Big Brother.

What does missing batting practice have to do with Big Brother?

Any entity that is hard to reach and affects my life is like Big Brother to me.

I'm not quite sure, but then I've never been into sports, so... I guess not. Unless you count missing fireworks last year because of the pandemic. Then, yeah.

@kaylachan Yeah, but it wasn't that good a game.

I cannot understand where "Big Brother" fits in deciding to go swimming because the Giants did not reply back to you.

@TheHorse We are all controlled, this is the modern life and this is the part of modern life that I totally dislike.

@LadyDuck I am really happy when I am up in Montana with five acres and no internet service. Yes, I eat foods bought at the grocery store, but I still feel "free" of corporate greed for a few days.

It's just another large entity that partially controls my life (like Microsoft, the IRS, and the unemployment office during Covid) that is virtually impossible to reach.

A live person actually finally got back to me. Good for the Giants! I went to the game, but the Giants got beat up on the last-place Pittsburgh Pirates.

I'm amazed at how many communiques are ignored by big business these days. It's annoying.
