It is rare for any K9 dog to say farewell to his work as the partner to a police officer who worked with dog on various missions for a period of six years.
Earlier this week a German Shepherd named Bear who worked with two handlers with the Taylor County Sheriff's Office in central Texas was given a huge farewell party.
Bear who had officers Weylon Cooley for the first three years of his career before officer Brandon Abbott for the remainder of his service with the police force.
It is not clear what happened to Officer Cooley if had passed away or retired from the force when Officer Abbott took over the duties of handling Bear who used to go with the name Moe which where he was adopted by the police from Moe's Southwest Grill in Abilene in April 2015.
Thanks to members of the grill that is no longer in service who donated $8,000 dollars to the Taylor County Sheriff's Office to adopt the dog who changed his name from Moe to Bear when he joined the police force.
Bear will now spend the remaining years of his life with Officer Abbott after serving six years in the police force and serving his community to the best of his ability.

What a good boy. He deserves a farewell like this.
Heroes can have four legs too.

I'm so glad that Bear will have a loving home in which to spend his retirement.

Nice, I love dogs, some bad apples like everyone but if I could I would fire the human race and just hire dogs. They are so neat. They can be so selfish and yet can sacrifice everything when the time comes. They obviously loyal, but so silly and never take things so serious, bounce back quick. Yeah I think dogs should run things from this day forward.
