I won this book on Instagram I believe. This is a new author to me though she has written several books, all beach reads. ~~~~ As a child Skylar Mackenzie's imagination always got her in trouble. Now it's making her a fortune. She owns Imagine That, a toy and bookstore and creativity center in a small Rhode Island beach town where children, and adults, can use their imaginations free from judgement. Skye is about to embark on her biggest venture yet, a weekend retreat of family exploration. But her plans begin to unravel when she finds her estranged half sister, Amy, on the doorstep. And Amy is not alone. She has brought Skye's first love, Connor Reid - the boy who broke her heart, now the man who could break it again. Amy claims she wants to made amends - but how can Skye trust her? It was Amy's lies that drove Skye from home 15 years earlier. Suddenly, Skye's perfectly imagined summer is in jeopardy. Not to mention her perfectly ordered life. Or her beloved town's financial future. With Amy back to her old troublemaking ways, and Connor making Skye wonder what might have been, Skye makes a decision that may cost her everything. Imagine Summer is a story of discovery, trust, and the courage to dream. ~~~~ It was apparent very early on that this was a family drama as well as a love triangle romance. You see, Skye is in a relationship with Jack. Connor's presence puts that in jeopardy. And Amy's tricks don't help matters. I really didn't like Amy and her immature tricks. But then Skye and Jack weren't much better with their comfortable sort-of-committed-but-not-really relationship. In discussions it is said that romance must have a HEA (happily ever after). I was worried as to where this happily ever after was going. Was the guy I was cheering for going to win? It wouldn't be a happily ever after if he didn't, in my opinion. About three quarters of the way through the book the story really amped up and I was glued to the pages. This 3 star story suddenly became 4 stars. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this new-to-me author.

I enjoy books that don't make it apparent right away if the "right" person is going to win. I don't read many romance books, but when I do, I like to have those questions. They keep me coming back to the book.

Reading books is fun since a book shows the emotion of the characters better than a television show or movie shows.
