I have a hard time studying a new language.

July 25, 2021 3:04am CST
Is there any tips in learning a new language or be motivated again. If only i can use Google translator all the time. In the first month of learning the language, i was really motivated because I want to study and work in that country better salary and benefits. But as months passed by i am not the same as the first month in which i was eager to learn. Instead of rending time studying I spend time watching netflix or reading other things.

Welcome to mylot. To learn a language or anything we have to keep on motivating ourselves all the time. Have you tried Duolingo, some YouTube classes will be helpful I guess to get the correct way of pronunciation.

@inori96 So did Netflix help you learn the language you want to learn? I have always had trouble learning a new language.

Actually it did help if I watched any German Dub or movies it will enhance in listening and adding vocabulary. But instead of watching those I prefer watching those that are actually more interesting and understandable. My guilty pleasure.

@inori96 I came to live in Israel over 34 years ago and had to learn Hebrew because it is the language of the country but it is not easy. I am not good with languages. One day things just started to come out but then when the corona came along I just forgot a lot and now struggle with the language.

If so, my friend, it means that you are not really motivated. You would just like to learn the language, but you don't see it as a necessity.

Learning other languages is really not easy. I think to effectively understand how to speak the language is to learn it from school because they will discuss the right grammar. From there, you can start learning little by little.

It's hard to keep motivated. Just keep in mind why you want to learn a new language and you will get your motivation back.

Welcome to MyLot! What language are you studying? I'm doing Japanese right now and it's been hard studying it without flashcards.

Since I am lazy when it comes to studying languages but what I can advice is you just try to learn that and in the end you will be fluent and you will be happy of the fruit of your hard work to learn.
