Could Kitty be jealous that I had a human female over the other night? Some new behaviors!

An ex-girlfriend came over the other night. We chilled around the house, drank some wine, and caught up, and then went out for sushi. We came back and chilled again until 11 PM, and then she went home. Kitty was accepting of my friend, and didn't bolt out the door, as she sometimes does with humans she's not very familiar with. She even let my friend pet her briefly. But her behavior was slightly different over the next couple of days after my friend left. Kitty actually waited at the front door a couple of times before coming in, as if she needed permission. She has also been following me around the house more often than usual. She also did something different "in bed" (ah, those romantic moments) that I'll describe in another post. Have your pets ever acted different when a "rival human" was involved?

They’re territorial critters, so they don’t like new pus….PEOPLE around.

Yes. Michael didn't bother her. We jammed on guitars here after our hike the other day. But a fellow...pus...cat-like figure...was troubling for her. She is asleep at my feet right now, guarding me from alien pus...other territorial animals.

I have no pets. Maybe your kitty was anticipating that person coming over again...

Luna acts completely different depending on the person. But she knows our friendship is special.

You're okay unless Kitty starts screaming, throwing your clothes out the window/door onto the front lawn or calling her brothers over to "take care of you".

She's probably feeling a little territorial and clingy. It might be interesting to see how she acts around your friend in the future.

She only comes here once every other month or so. But she's welcome in my kitchen, on my bed, etc.

Basically my cats would run away at the sight of strangers. So no human is rival to them.

i remember our pet dog a bull terrier knew whenever I was packing to leave somewhere. He would see the suit case and romp up and down showing his resentment that way

Cats are jealous, so it depends which person. Kitty does not care about my husband, he knows that we are always together, but if I am giving attention to an "unknown" humans he shows that he is annoyed.

Cats can be very possessive of their humans. She felt that it was strange for another person to suddenly show up. She might also think that this person will return again and she is uncomfortable with that feeling because she wants you all to herself, Since my husband and I were already together when we had our cats first a female and then a male my last cat Sid the cats loved us both but would have days when they chose who they wanted to follow around with so they divided their favors and it was never favoring us both but always one and then the other,

Yes. Cats are jealous. I have two male cats and one of them can't stand the other one if I pet him or if I am playing with him.
