Virtual get together with The Fam

It had been quite a while since our last family gathering. Now, my maternal side of the family LOVES get-togethers. We normally do that at least 2-3 times a year (and that's excluding weddings and such). So when COVID hit, you can imagine how hard it is for us not seeing each other. But yesterday, one of my cousins in the UK got engaged and my aunt thought of throwing a virtual get together on Google Meet to celebrate! The time obviously didn't work for everyone - our extended family is spread all over, from the US to Australia - but many of us joined. It was nice just seeing their faces and hearing their voices again after so many months. Wish we had done this much earlier! How do/did you cope with not seeing friends and family much since the pandemic hit?

I know right! I was just thinking how difficult it would have been if we don't have access to all the technology that we have today.

We talk on the phone a couple times a week, it is the best we can do for now.

Big "Thank You" to the advancement in technology for making our lives bearable during these trying times of the pandemic. Without the internet our lives would have been difficult to the utmost level. Connectivity to the outside world is a must in these dire times.

I couldn't agree more. I can't imagine if we're going through this at the time where there was no instant messaging or video call technology, or even internet for that matter!

It's a common thing to do these days. Not just for work, family gathering as well. I told my sister to get a job closer to home as she's staying in Selangor. We haven't meet for months now as Selangor is stuck with never-ending PKP. She said it's not easy to get a stable job right now. Lot of businesses are shutting down too.

Exactly!! Everyone's frustrated, Selangor folks especially. In fact I just read an article saying that they're extending it until the end of the year. I hope you get to see your sister very soon.
