I wonder who is responsible for the sign?

On the way to my sister’s place, we pass this quite impressive church. We’ve been watching it evolve for a number of years. It is built of concrete but then faced with stone. It now seems like it is almost finished although there is still a lot of landscaping to do.
I can’t imagine what it would have cost and it’s hard to get past the fact that some of the money might have been better spent helping the poor.
What did amuse me a bit was the spelling mistake in the notice. The church is attached to a school so you’d think they’d be able to be ‘responsible’ correctly. But it seems not.

@JudyEv Kids love to play in the water and those high pools are not really safe for them.
The local Animal Shelter suggested to all owners of those pools to place a ladder inside so that also small animals can climb out should they fall inside.

@JudyEv You could if you think they'd care. I've pointed out spelling errors on signs before but people tell me that it doesn't matter as long as others can understand it.

@DaddyEvil I might get told to mind my own business! If so, I hope they do it in a kind, Christian kind of way.

That was easily caught
We have many large churches here like that. I feel the same as you that the money could do more good elsewhere

@JudyEv But those churches were often open as a sanctuary for people as needed. Today they have rec rooms in them for the church members. Size is good if it helps all. But many dont anymore.

@wolfgirl569 That's a fair comment. Most of our churches are locked up nowadays because of vandals.

Very sad. Obviously they didn't pay as close attention to the sign as they did to the church building.

Children drown so easily that they need to be watched if they are near water.

That's strange because signages are put after they are written, they are edited and approved. There might have been lots of people involved in it. Anyways it happens sometimes people don't see the spelling mistakes. I have noticed such spelling mistakes several times here.
You should complain about it

It's true that it's very easy to miss mistakes. I do it myself all the time.

That's funny, I actually didn't catch the mistake the first time I read the sign!
It reminds me of a spelling mistake I made on t-shirts we used during a recreation program at the city I worked for. We ran a running/swimming series in the summer that we called the Biathlon, and each participant was given a t-shirt. We used the same t-shirt design each year, only changing up the color of the shirts and changing the dates. I think we went 4-5 years with hundreds of people receiving the shirts for their participation before someone finally noticed that we spelled Biathlon wrong. We spelled it B-I-a-t-h-a-l-on, adding an incorrect "a" between the "h" and "l." It was slightly embarrassing to say the least.

@JudyEv There's no question that our eyes (and our brains) play tricks on us! Our brain "knows" what is supposed to be there, so our eyes don't see the mistakes sometimes.

If you're not part of the planning, you might wonder about it then think 'oh well, perhaps that's what they want'. But we can certainly become almost 'blind' at times. I guess we know what's meant to be there so that's what we see.

.. and also, does it mean that children can play in the water as long a they are supervised?.. I'm thinking that maybe, English is their second language which explains the spelling mistake..

Exactly. It's very badly worded altogether. I might write and suggest some improvements.

I understand their concern being next to a school but they should set an example with proper phrasing,
