More Covid News...

Oh man... I just read our local newspaper... The Beaches Leader.
Baptist Beaches Hospital reported 10,800 new cases in Jacksonville within the last two weeks. When they had only one case in early June.
Out of all those cases, 429 patients have been hospitalized. 20% of all these cases are located at the beach.
They confirmed my earlier post, that it is the younger population who are experiencing the greatest surge; verses the older during the initial surge. Apparently, the Delta strain is not limited to just the those who are older, vulnerable, and have compromised immune systems.
They also confirmed that 97% of the current Covid-19 cases have not been vaccinated. Which throws out the window those who thought that it was not necessary for the younger population to get vaccinated. And it also discredits those who thought the vaccine would not be that effective. To say that almost 100% of those being affected with the virus now, were never vaccinated...is huge!
Over the last month 44% of the Covid-19 cases are 49 years of age and younger. As for the other 56%...the average age who are infected are in their mid 50's.
So not only is Ascension St Vincent seeing a surge, but so is Baptist Beaches hospital...and I imagine the other hospitals will soon follow.
I have a feeling after this surge starts to skyrocket out of control, folks will be scrambling to get vaccinated now. In fact... I heard on the radio today that the government is thinking about offering $100 to those who are not vaccinated to encourage them to get the vaccine.
My argument with that is... Those of us who took responsibility and received the initial vaccination...should have received a $500 stipend. Instead...they are wanting to reward others for being irresponsible.
I am just not looking forward to possibly being quarantined again.
Sigh again...

@teresatrotter In my country, younger people took their time to go for the vaccine. Now they are the age group with more cases.

It didn't work the first time, and it won't work now. They are pushing vaccines, but the thing is... if someone doesn't want to get it, they can't force them. Its our bodies and our choices.

I get what you are saying... But the vaccines are working, or there would not be a high percentage of those who have contracted the virus now that not vaccinated. You are entitled to your opinion and so am I. I am very glad I got vaccinated. I know too many people who were against the vaccine...who got the virus and are now no longer with us.
