If you guys remember I posted a discussion on the trouble I faced from the local police station with regards to the verification process for the reissue of my passport.
Am happy that I finally managed to get my passport.
This is my third passport, but never did I bribe for my earlier 2 passports like I have bribed them this time. Though am always against bribe and corruption, I was left with no choice because the local cop stationed at my place was, a totally corrupted fellow.
This passport turned out to be my most expensive passport....$60 in all
$20 is the actual price for my renewal and $40 as bribe

@S4mmyboy I'm feeling better and my eyes are opening up again. I hope they stay open so we can go grocery shopping in the morning. We're running out of things in the kitchen.
Do you want to come by and go shopping with us?

I am really glad you got your passport. I want to get one too, but there is a backup here. I don't know how long it will take.

@S4mmyboy that's not only we all have to face it. Recently I went to the authority to get learning license made of my wife. And there we had to spend 5-6 hours and I guess it would have been a work of 30 mins if we had bribed the officials or their mediators.

I remember your previous post about this. It's very unfortunate you had to go through that for a passport, but glad to know you finally got it done. Hope the system would one day be free of corrupted officers like that.

@S4mmyboy I think every country has its share of corrupted officers. I used to think it's because some people are underpaid and desperate for money but then it also happens among people in high positions.

Am very much an Indian resident. ....while all my legal documents carry my parental home address, I don't stay at my parental home any more, after the passing away of my parents and my elder brother family stay, . Though I stay very close to them, my nephew who is in his teens, informed the cop when he visited that I don't stay anymore.... The one information was enough for him to make money from me... You know they need excuses

@FaruMesh no there is no point in filing any complaints...... You know what.......here in my city the policemen bribe their higher officials for postings of their choice and it runs into Lakhs of rupees.... So that is how they recover the money from common people like us
