Staring at the chandelier while waiting...

That's the best angle I could get from my seat but I couldn't resist taking a photo.
I don't know about you, but whenever I enter a hall or any space with a chandelier hanging from a ceiling, the chandelier is what catches my eye first before anything else.
This was taken while I was waiting for my turn for my second jab yesterday. The hall was just a 20-minute drive from home. Everything went just as smoothly as when I came the first time. Spent less than half an hour there, including the 15-minute observation period.
Back to chandeliers, I'm still amazed at how they have evolved through time. If you see pictures of chandeliers in earlier times, they're basically just wooden planks holding up candles - more functional than a symbol of luxury.
Would I have one at home? Probably not because I'd be too lazy to clean it.
What type of lighting do you like?

I'm way too lazy to clean a chandelier but I do admire the beauty. My parents had a couple of them at home in different rooms.
I have ceiling fixtures with glass diffusers and several floor and table lamps.
I have some table lamps from the 1920's with cut glass teardrop beads. Two that match sit on the nightstands on either side of the bed, the other that sits on the end table is similar to the bedroom lamps but this one has beautiful flower designs painted onto the globe and the base. I have a hanging lamp that matches it but it's not installed.
Those teardrop beads are hard enough to keep clean. I wouldn't want a chandelier.
I hope you had a good day.

Oh wow, 1920's? That's classic! I haven't seen chandeliers that old. Very interesting.
My grandparents' house and my parents' old house had a few with those teardrop beads. Keeping them dust-free was really difficult!
I like the modern and contemporary ones that have a more minimalist design, at least those ones don't look very hard to maintain.

I love the modern lighting fixtures. Clean, sleek, functional and easy to wash.
They just wouldn't go with a house full of old and antique pieces like I have here.

@Vikingswest1 Ah yeah I guess you have to see if it fits the overall theme of the house interior. In your case I think a classic design fits best! I don't like a hodgepodge kind of design.

@cahaya1983 No crystal teardrops, more similar to the one in your photo.

Yes me too, if I ever get one it would be a modern one that's easy to maintain. Crystal teardrop chandeliers are beautiful but need high maintenance.

@LadyDuck They are beautiful, yes. The ones you have at your home now, what type are they?

I like soft white lighting.
I wouldn't have a chandelier at home as well. Too much maintenance.
Glad to know your second dose went fine.

I also prefer white lighting to the yellow one. I like this chandelier because of the white lights and it really created a nice beautiful ambient.
Thanks, I had a sore arm this morning, more than after my first jab, but I took paracetamol and that helped to relieve the pain.

@cacay1 Oh no. That must have been a huge and heavy one then.

Oh no. That sounds like a scene from a movie! I've never thought of that when I look at chandeliers, I guess it's not very likely to happen (although possible!). The ones at my grandparents' house have been there since the 80's, so far they're well and intact.

It's better not to if it doesn't fit the decor, I guess. These days there are so many types of lighting fixtures, pretty easy to find one that suits different styles of interior.

It`s a nice pic and the angle is good enough to let anyone see how how noticeable the chandelier is

Yeah I guess didn't want to look too obvious to everyone else that I was admiring the chandelier. And I thought if I zoomed in too much it wouldn't be clear.

We had a chandelier over our dining room table when I was a kid, black metal with "candles" with the bulbs as "flames." I remember it, but I was too little to do anything with the cleaning.

Oh yes I have seen those chandeliers with bulbs as the "flames". I think they're easier to clean than the crystal teardrop ones.

It is, isn't it That one in the picture is more of the luxurious type to suit the hall, but there are so many other beautiful designs.

Every room in this house, except the bathroom, have ceiling fans with lights in them. (Not my favorite type of lighting, but I'm not going to change it.)
I'm glad you got your second shot.

Thanks!
We have two ceiling fans with lights on them but we hardly turn the lights on. I actually like some of the modern fans that have LED lights.

Haha yeah it's just one of those things that we don't really think about until we see them. Well, unless you work in the lighting department I suppose.

Yes the ones we had at my grandparents' house were the crystal type too. I really think they make a lot of difference to the interior.
