I think it depends on how strong the depressed person mentally is...
If one can't handle his own depression he won't be able to help other come out of it.
But if one is strong enough to understand it.. he might be able to help others and also come out of the depression himself.

Everyone have different experiences and different way of handling the problem.
Human behavior is very complex and it is hard for a person to understand other person's depression unless they had same problems ...that too if they react to a certain situation in same way
So that's not enough

You shall find a depressed person to talk,it's best to find a friend who has the same mood with you.You can tell what you feel and think in your heart to her, that will help you a lot.
After all,all of the depressed person, they just don't have a good listener,a good listener means more than a therapist

Yes actually, someone with depression can help another person with depression. My husband is bipolar/depression/ and anxiety disorder and for 3 years at the being of him being diagnosed hw has helped lots of people through they’re as well as their treatment. He still does at his new job. Lots of medical workers suffer from those same things as people that don’t and they try there best to help those they are the same spot as them to no be.
