@eileenleyva Most of these Olympians from our country come from rural areas and very humble backgrounds. And they have stories about their struggles that are truly inspiring.

The excitement is to be expected !! The whole country is over-joyous !!
And well this is the 1st ever medal for India in Track and Field(Athletics), which even P.T.Usha and Milkha 'Flying Sikh
Singh missed narrowly.
(I am not counting the 1900 Normal Pritchard medals in the British India).
Truly an unforgettable moment!

The world top ranker from Germany did not perform as expected. He had thrown 90 plus prior to Olympics but did not do as well here. But Neeraj is still quite young and good for more medals and championships.

There were so many proud moments in this Olympics. Aditi Ashok, the Women's Hockey team, and Men's relay team lost but they too made history in their own way. I could hear my elder daughter and husband screaming in excitement so many times in this Olympic

@arunima25 it's strange he didn't get that much fame before winning the gold medal in Olympics though he is a good athlete.

@JudyEv I agree there. Most of our athletes come from a poor background and their hard work and sacrifices make it big.
