Young Adult Thriller: Book Review

The Missing Season by Gillian French is a YA Thriller novel which I won on Instagram from the author. ~~~~ [/i]Whenever another kid goes missing in October, the Pender kids know what is really behind it: a horrific monster out in the marshes they have named the Mumbler.[i] [/i]Clara is new in town, so she doesn't actually believe in the Mumbler, not like the irresistible Kincaid does. But as Halloween gets closer and tensions build in the town, it's hard to shake the feeling that there is really something dark and dangerous in Pender, lurking in the shadows, waiting to bring the stories to life.[i] ~~~~ I have only read maybe two other YA Thriller novels, but I really enjoyed them. This one is definitely geared towards the teen reader. There is young love, friendships good and troubled, family drama, neighbourhood drama, and of course something scary in the woods. I wanted to love this book, especially since the author herself sent it to me. But since I am not a teen I honestly feel this is geared more towards teens. Many adults are reading YA these days. Think Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games. A good story that I gave 3.5 stars. I would love to hear the thoughts of a younger reader.
