This is a quick discussion for those who have followed the news about my cousin. This morning at around 6:30 she left this mortal coil... We all have our different beliefs, but I am of the belief our souls are re-born into another life.
I'm feeling kind of numb and haven't processed anything yet. I am going to go ahead and say thank you for your kind words (if you leave any) and that all thoughts should be on my aunt, uncle and cousins rather than on myself.
My cousin was diagnosed with a rare mitochondrial disease a few years ago. She was told the disease was fatal.

@prashu228 Yes, she was suffering. Recently she was only moaning. We did not know if this was an attempt to communicate or her body in pain. My aunt sent a picture of her last week and my cousin was a shell of her former self. Far too skinny and pale.

Thank You Very Much.
It was and was not a shock. We knew she would die, but she held on for so long.

@snowy22315 For two weeks my aunt went to hospice at 5 AM when her husband dropped her off and spent 8 hours there. Sitting, listening and watching her daughter...

@snowy22315 My brother was in a vegetative state too, and that decision had to be made... Always is.

@bunnybon7 So sad. I worry my aunt blames herself in part. I am glad she did not see her daughter pass away, I do not think she would take it well at all. However, she will live with the regret that she was only a few minutes late.

What we were told is that it is a biological disease from the father, but the mother carried it when she carried my cousin. Sorry that makes little sense, doesn't it?

@divalounger It was hard on my aunt as well. My cousin had a nurse to come, but the nurse stopped coming during / because of the pandemic. I am not sure why that was, only that it was. My aunt had to do everything, with assistance from her other children on occasion, but never constant.
A rare mitochondrial disease on top of that, the doctors could only do so much.

Thank You. It is a mercy that she is gone simply because she was suffering for so long. Living a life where she knew she would never get better.

I am sorry that she is gone, but at the same time I am thankful for it. She was suffering. She knew that she was dying and that there was no way for her to get healthy once again. My aunt can now grieve.

@FourWalls Yes, there is always that guilt. I have felt that way the past two weeks that she has been in hospice. My aunt sent a message to us on the 29th letting us know she may not be long for this world, and yet my cousin suffered 12 more days.

Thank You Very Much.
I am sitting here now thinking of how I was waiting for this day. She suffered for so long, but spent the last two weeks in hospice, barely knowing who she was or where she was.

My poor aunt. She will forever have regrets for not being there when my cousin passed, but I am glad my aunt was not there to see it.

Thank You Very Much.
Most of my updates were her in and out of the hospital. There was not much information I could give because not much changed.
