How MyLot helped me make about $200 today

In addition to dealing with Microsoft this morning, I am dealing with CenturyLink, the carrier for my phone service in Montana. They currently have me on hold. It's only been 15 minutes so far, so I'm chill. How did MyLot help me make close to $200 today? I called CenturyLink and made it clear that my lawyer and I are considering suing them for hundreds of thousands of dollars. I have not had service for 17 of the past 20 years in Montana. If I broke my leg or had a heart attack up there, I could be dead. The mental anguish caused by their incompetence is real. After half an hour of waiting, I was able to talk to someone in Salt Lake City Utah. We joked about how we could understand each other. Both of our first languages are English! Now, another hour later, I am talking to someone in the Guatemala who is trying to make sure that I get service this Summer. That has passed. Now I am on hold. Wait! A Filipino lady who says she's in Kansas (a prairie state in the United States) has forwarded me to another representative. Update: But it was the wrong department. So now I'm on hold again. I think I'm going to post this and go swimming before I do my Wednesday marathon at Guitar Center. Three hours. Do you have a record for how long you've spent on hold? Is this a part of their business model? Oh, in answer to my headline, one of the agents relented and refunded something like $200 that CenturyLink thinks I "owe" them for nothing.

@spiderdust Well, he's only gotten 5 responses so far, so I doubt if that would add up to 2 cents.

If you somehow call up Ambanis in India and ask California Government to invite them, you get Jio Phone services in India. At the worst, they might still be better than CenturyLinks. Disclaimer: The Ambanis are much richer than I and well, no connection with them whatsever. And if you become their friend somehow, they would get you a Porsche right now!

@TheHorse But you would have to find their number yourself. Of course, you can always use your Indian Prez position!

I had to call my health insurance today. I was very pleased with how fast everything went. And she spoke so clearly that I never had to ask her to repeat herself. That was the first for that in a very very very long time

I would post a complaint on their Facebook page and write a letter to their corporate offices. Let me know if I can help. I have spent 2 hours on the phone trying to correct a computer problem; but I was speaking with someone.

Microsoft no longer uses telephone consultants at all. At least that's what the recorded message told me yesterday before Microsoft hung up on me.

I recently played phone tag with a medical supply company, and spent a little over two hours on hold. After that time, and trying to navagate a menu, I gave up. The person finally got back to me, and after some back and fourth, I've decided not to do business with them.

So they pay you $67/hour to be on hold. I'd get that kind of a job if it weren't for this stupid Vow Of Poverty.

What I desperately hate is being put on hold with horrible music playing,. With the Textnow I use for phone call over the Internet I can be put on hold and just let the music play while I do other things until I hear someone pick up, I once had an hour wait and then the person simply told me to pose my question in an email and gave me the email and I wished I could wack them with a pan,

Yes, myLot helps us mysteriously too as our creator does from time to time when we are in a deep hole. To say it is frustrating to be put on hold is an understatement. That is a customer disservice.

I am pretty sure you might have earned $1 on Mylot if you would be on Mylot instead of Hold not $200 That was too much

Wait, how did this make you any money? I thought I'd read that you got refunded or something... or is the $200 what you'll be earning at Guitar Center today?

Read the third and the final paragraph. I added the latter later, for clarity. I went off on a tangent and didn't make it clear that my threat of legal action was what "earned" me a couple hundred dollars.

How was the music that they played while you were on hold? It's annoying most of the times. I hope there was some music... annoying or not annoying

The key word you used was "lawyer". It's easier for the company to pay $200 for them to pay than thousands of dollars in legal fees trying to argue with you about the matter. They just did the math and you got $200! That's alright!

I was on a call for seven hours many moons ago. An IT person at a phone company was helping me reconfigure the computer I was on. What a nightmare but he was paitient. I did have to be on hold for an hour while he ate lunch. I was so scared he would hang up in the middle but he didn't. I told him I love him and he said he loves me too.

It's pouring down rain here right now, so I could also go swimming (in my front yard) if I wanted to. But unfortunately, there is no money to be made doing that. At least you got $200 back for your efforts.

@TheHorse - I hate that we seem to spend so much time on hold these days, and that is now considered normal. Customer service is absolutely terrible! I did have something funny happen this week. I ordered some groceries from Amazon, and they included a large half-gallon bottle of gin, which I did not order. I tried to have them come pick it up, but it wasn't worth the cost for them to retrieve it. They told me to just keep it. (I'm sure someone was disappointed to not find their gin in their order). Now, I have a bottle of gin, and neither my husband nor I drink gin. Guess I'll give it to someone for Christmas!
