No refills available for ball pens

We always replaced spent refills with new refills but recently the shop from where we get these refills informed us that refills are not supplied any more and that we should go for new ball pens
We have loads of ball pens in our house and it is not a happy situation to see them all thrown away once the refills no longer work.
Is it the same in your country?

It is not the question of cost. How many ball pens does one discard. Is it not a waste?

Many pens donot have refills..they are use and throw type of pens.
And many times the shopkeeper don't have refills for the pen we ask for.
Lots of pollution

Why should ball pens be thrown away. Is it a good policy?

I am sure you may not want to discard a pen each time.

@allknowing yes, it's not about the cost of the pen but pens are mostly made of plastic and buying a pen each time leads to more. Production of plastic pens and it leads to plastic pollution which i do not like at all

I had used only one Parker ball pen for a very long time and refills are always available, a little bit more expensive than the usual refill but the writing experience is worth the price.

Parker is a good brand. We have all types of ball pens floating around

@allknowing another good thing with Parker is the refills are made of metal so they could be recycled faster since metal is more in demand than the type of plastic they use for ordinary ball pens and refills. Metals also naturally biodegrades faster than plastic.

Same case here, but to make sure our stationery are organized and not lying around everywhere, I don't really have a choice but to throw the ones that have run out of ink.

I haven't refilled a pen in a long time. Usually I just toss mine when it runs out of ink.

@allknowing I know right! But what can I do. When there's lots of things to write you have to pick easy and cheap. But I think my pen consumption has lessened due to college now.

That has been fairy normal here for a long time. The last I looked I could still get refills for some pens if I wanted to.

@allknowing
Are pens expensive to buy when one no longer works? I am not sure if we have refills here so when a pen no longer works I buy a new one.
