No Trump "Reinstatement"...

So today, August 13, 2021, was supposed to be the day President Biden and Vice President Harris would "graciously" resign and the twice impeached disgraced former occupant of our White House would be "reinstated" as POTUS.
I don't think anyone with half a brain cell really believed that would happen but for the few who did I guess they're really disappointed.
I'm just curious as to how many here believed or still believe "the big lie" about the 2020 election. I promise to keep it respectful and friendly and I urge anyone who chooses to weigh in on this topic to PLEASE do the same!

I DO have some questions about the 2020 elections but they are not relevant now.
Once the results were certified and sent to Congress, the election was over.
Anyone that thought differently, clearly doesn't understand how the transfer of power works. They reminded me of the scream at the sky nuts when Trump won.
This next cycle should be good.

You have every right to have questions. I had a lot of questions after both the 2000 and 2016 elections but I knew I had no choice but to deal with it. I was very angry at how the 2016 election went down because of the Russian involvement but I don't think those of us "resisters" compare with what the Trump supporters did at the Capitol or how they've carried on before and after that horrific event.
I'm clearly worried about the next cycle due to the efforts by the Republicans to disenfranchise millions of voters and even to change the results if the party in power in a particular state disagrees with the will of the people. I think we're in real danger of losing our democracy.
But that's for a future discussion coming soon...

@Vikingswest1 You're probably smart not to do "team politics". The hatred in this country has reached the boiling point and I find it terrifying, to be honest.
I actually agree with some of what you said but at this point in time I take issue with the notion that both parties are equally corrupt. I mean, I certainly know there are corrupt members from both parties, what just happened in New York is a perfect example of that, but the way the parties as a whole handle corruption is a whole different story.
Also, I'm aware we're a Constitutional Republic but I think you get my drift. I fear we're going to lose our right to vote, or at least many millions of Americans will, and that even if we do vote our votes may not be counted.

I don't do the team politics any longer.
We are a Constitutional Republic btw.
I believe both parties to be equally corrupt.
More access by third party candidates is needed.
Term Limits should be written into law
The money spent on elections is obscene, closer scrutiny of funds from PACs and corporations and Unions should be given.
A return to paper ballots and polling places should be considered.
I think party politics creates division. The rhetoric by elected officials signals that the "other team" should be hated simply because they disagree with an ideology.
I think Civil War is a possibility if things continue down this path.

The "Big Lie" is one of the most dangerous things that has happened to our country in a long time--and I am not sure it is over yet--there are too many people that believe it or want to believe it

Every time I see a poll that says a rather large percentage of Republicans and even some Independents and Democrats believe this stuff I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack. This is our democracy we're talking about and we could lose it.

@anniepa we could--I still hear a fair number of people talking about civil war and secession--like it will solve things and they seem ready to fight for that--scary stuff

Anyone who believed that, clearly flunked out of school. That's not how the govornment works. Trump could possibly run again in 2024, as both attempts of impeachment failed. Now there are people trying to put him behind bars. Just let it rest already.
