I don´t understand when you risk your life.

I was watching the news and suddenly a man (Chilean reporter that included camera) was reporting from Afganistan.
He is disguised with Arab garments and is in Kabul.
I remembered many years ago, the Mount Saint Helen erupted in the US and a reporter did not want to leave the place until he lost his life.
I´m in a state of shock, friends.

I guess some people think that they are real life invincible Iron Man wannabes.

These two you mentioned are professionals, I believe. This one is a journalist, and the one on Mt. St. Helens you are referring to, was a volcanologist, if I am not mistaken.
Perhaps we don't understand because we are not in that profession.
But they are. And even though we may not understand, I suppose they feel a certain passion for their work that they are willing to keep at it even though it becomes dangerous for them.
I don't think we are in any position to dismiss them just because our passions lie somewhere else.
It may be a different matter if these are just thrill-seekers. But I don't think these particular ones are doing it for the thrill. I think they are doing it because they feel a responsibility to do their job.

I also had no idea why would they do that, sometime heroism is not the key for a great or better news.

Yes must take care of self for your beloved and never risks it for you to be a hero really because for me if we risk our life we just give pain to the people who are left behind if we are gone.

Some people want to give their all, hoping what they do can be useful for others. Those reporters stayed until the very end to gain and report as much information as possible. Those informations could be used by the government, SAR team, or whoever related to the events.
