Hi dear mylotters. It's 8:30 in the morning here. And I am sitting at my desk and studying. I usually procrastinate so much that I watch a study vlog while studying. Not a time lapse vlog but a real 1 hr session. And yet, here I am, typing in Google Docs for mylot.  So, today I started my environmental studies. It's of only 4 credits and for this semester only. It is mandatory for all of us to take this subject. My friends told me that the same goes for them too. Later I checked out that EVS has been made mandatory for all undergraduates in India by our Supreme Court.  And although the admission date have been extended till the end of this month, I decided to start my studies after talking to my friend.  P. S.- I screenshotted the EVS book's first chapter.

@Anqaya Oh, very nice! I don't think I've asked you yet... do you have a major picked out yet?

@DaddyEvil Yes. I took both English and history as major. I love both these subjects. What major did you had in college?

It's a good move as one should learn about the environment. We had no such subject in engineering.

@sjvg1976 I also thought so. One of my friends is studying computer engineering. She thinks evs just an extra load.

I actually think it's nice to make it a mandatory subject. Environmental issues are huge now and it's good to make the younger generation aware of them.

@Anqaya Will there be projects you have to work on at the end of the semester? That would be interesting.

@cahaya1983 Yes. There would be both assignments and projects. But I don't think there's any real science exhibition like projects. All are pen and paper. Or rather typing.

@prashu228 Plus. We don't have any incentives or facilities to care for our environment.

You gotta need these studies more than ever now because climate change is already manifesting itself.

Yes. Climate change is really showing up to us now. I was shocked to see the floods in Europe and heat wave in USA and Canada last month.

I only wished that they would have offered the subject when I was in school. Most classes were pretty boring if I remember correctly! I don't think the teachers liked being there anymore than we did!

Actually, Evs is not that exciting. It also depends what subjects you liked personally. For example I loved history. So did our history teacher. But the rest of the class fell asleep. What was your favorite subject?

That subject is very important for awareness on what to do and how to preserve our environment and the entire universe that is gradually sinking and seems cannot anymore carry the abuses of humans...though what humans do go back to them, but at least humans have the remorse of their worst actions. In the university where I am teaching, one course offered is Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Technology.

Studying alone in this pandemic can be really boring and you do need something to motivate it. Good that you started it soon. It is good that they have made EVS a compulsory subject but then more emphasis should be given to ideas and innovation. Reading about the problem does not solve it .

You are right. Evs is only good for us if we use it properly.
