Watermelon is one of the most popular and tasty fruits and like a delight in summers and is one of my favorite and one more this is it's not very expensive so everyone can afford it and it comes in different sizes so one can buy as per their consumption.
One thing we like to add to Watermelon is the black salt and it does make it taste really good and actually, we like to add Black salt on most of the fruits like apple, Papaya and even on banana too and in case we are having a mix of fruits in which we add small pieces of apples, banana, watermelon, grapes we all black salt on it too.

Hmm... I don't put salt on any fruit. My daughter does that sometimes but I don't know why. (I just think she's weird... ) My mom used to salt fruit before she'd eat it, though.

Nobody here would think of using salt on watermelon or any other sweet fruit. I have never tried black salt but I understand that it has a distinctive smell like rotten eggs or flatulence and that would probably put me off even further!
Using salt with sweet fruit seems to be an oriental thing. Although, in the West, we sometimes use a little salt with caramel and do use sweet condiments like pickles and chutneys with savoury dishes, most people would consider putting salt on watermelon or mango or any other fresh fruit rather bizarre.

@Butterfingers no .. it's not common here..
Eating mango with little salt and chilli powder is okay as it's sour fruit...but I don't know that even sweet fruits are included..not on our side

I don't put any salt on watermelon, or any other fruit in fact. Actually, I only use salt in cooking, and not afterwards. And I only use sea salt as it hasn't been refined.

I never aquired the taste for watermelon. My father used to put regular salt on it and I always wondered if that made the taste better. I never understood why he did it but now I read your post and even though I do not like watermelon I enjoyed reading your post and wanted to make a comment.
