No, way! That was my reply to my former co-masseuses last week when they offered me a job as a massage therapist in their massage spas in our city. I met one of my Thai workmates in the city when I was shopping with my sister. She wanted me to work in her shop but I said no. She was not contented with my no answer that she called me a few days after I have met her in the city. She said I would get a higher hourly rate if I work with her. I said that No way I will risk my health working as a masseuse. Last weekend, I got a call from my Thai friend and former workmate with the same job offer. I said the same and declined the offer. “What a pity” she said as she like working with me especially that I can speak better German than her as well as in English when they need me to translate from English to German language to foreign clients. I am wondering how they are not scared working as a masseuse this time of pandemic. For me, my health is very important than earning money. Besides, I have my caregiver part time job now. Would you like to have a massage treatment this time of pandemic? What do you think? In my opinion, it is dangerous as you will never know if the massage salon will change their beddings and towels after each client and if the clients are not a carrier of the virus. Thanks for reading. Have a blessed week. The photo was taken last week when I was on my balcony. Beautiful double rainbows, aren’t they?

Here, massage spas are not considered essential service so they are also locked down.. I don't blame you for refusing the job offer.. We need to be extra careful in this pandemic..

I was thinking that the spas and massage studios here are close but they are not anymore. No lockdown this summer but I think it will come again soon. Thank you@epiffanie. Take care always.

I totally agree with your decision and would have done the exact same thing if I had a similar offer. Though I am not a massage therapist, I would go in for therapeutic massage about once a month or so. This was before the pandemic and have not gone back nor am I considering going back because I just don't feel it's safe. Yes, the rainbows are gorgeous.

I am glad that you have the same opinion with me @betlynfrnds. I usually went for a massage once a month but it was before the pandemic. I am glad that I have a massage chair for emergency treatment when my back is sore. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

@thelme55 If I was in an area with many cases of Covid going on, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that sort of job. Otherwise, I would love to do a job like that. I'm still considering it for a career but unsure. But anyway, regarding you, I think you did the right thing. Money can be made anywhere but if it's in a job dealing and especially touching a lot of people then it's not worth it right now. Beautiful photo. Stay safe!

I am the same @VivaLaDani13. I don’t do a job which makes me uncomfortable. I agree with you. Not worth the money at all. Thank you. Stay safe, too.

I agree. Not the right time to be touching and being so close to people you don't know. Great rainbow shot there!

@CarolDM Yes, I learned it here in Germany and I was doing it for more than 10 years until 2019. I am only doing it when I am asked by my close friends when they have backaches.

I don't understand why you're letting yourself be so afraid of a virus. If you want to live in a bubble, fine, but being a caregiver would be more dangerous than being a massage tharapist. Why, because your clients are usually lying face down. You can personally sanitize a table if you're concerned about infection. And, you can always wash your hands if you have to handle a towal. I would think being a care giver would be more dangerous, especially if a client needs physical assistance moving or you have to handle bodily fluids. Those carry more infections then a towel would. Just walking out your front door, you have a 50/50 chance of contracting any airborn virus mask or no mask. If someone offered me a job as a massage tharapist, I would strongly consider it. If I were the type to get a massage, I would do it. I personally don't like them, and my husband is the only one who knows how to touch me. You just have to do you.

@kaylachan I am not really a caregiver in a sense that I have to bath or clean the patient. I am just a companion who is there to prepare her meals and do some cluttering in her home. There are professional caregivers who come to her house 3 times every day. I am there when a doctor or a physiotherapist visit the patient every now and then. As the patient is bedridden, I am there to let them in. In the massage studio or spa, there are different clients who come and I don’t know them. I feel safer where I work now. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

Beautiful picture of a rainbow. Yes, we should be careful and should not visit the massage parlor. The virus is still existing.

Yes, they are beautiful. No, I would not want a job that included physical contact with someone even if it were not during a pandemic.

I would not dream of getting a massage right now even when there is no virus, places MUST be sanitary as you well know Thelma. We know you and I because of also me working in salons.

Thelma, you took the right decision, I would never do something like that, right now it is extremely dangerous and our health is most important. Your photo is beautiful.

Yes, the double rainbow is very nice. It's not often you see a double rainbow like that. No, I wouldn't want a massage nor would I want to give a massage. Especially with only 58% of the people vaccinated there. I think you're making the right choice. Have a great week.
