So Much For the Quiet Neighborhood

The majority of the time, the neighborhood is quiet, except for July 4th and New Years. Many fireworks. But the rest of the time, things are quiet.
Just now I noticed red and blue flashing lights on the next street over. Could not imagine what was going on.
A neighbor was outside and I asked her. She said a couple were divorcing. The husband had moved out. He returned to pick up his clothes. And the argument started.
He threatened to take the kids, had one in his arms, heading to his truck. She called the police and it went from there. The husband was eventually arrested.
This saddens me to see. I hope they can get things resolved without any more trouble. And for the sake of the children. Life is too short for this drama.

The worst thing my parents did was to stay together 'for the sake of the kids'---kids are not dumb--they know what is going on!

A home with dissention is destructive, the same as a divorce. Fighting destroys the unity in the home.

Family fights are the worst case scenario for anyone to deal with.

@CarolDM That is what many police stories on television have mentioned.

Unfortunately, those children a broken pieces from a broken family. If the parents could find it in the heart to forgive and forget, the children would benefit from a stable life. Both parents think they're right, they're both wrong.

@CarolDM Many couples don't want to try, they give up hope. An elderly couple lived two houses from us, he was a licensed pastor. Two years ago Clifford moved to Virginia, Betty had filed for a divorce.
As you voiced, I have no idea why.

That was a sad news. Sorry for your neighbor.
It is quiet here as well. Aside from the fact that the houses infront of my house is still empty, the neighborhood seemed so quiet since the new variant of COVID-19 was reported here because of the cases.

There's always drama when people get a divorce. I went through two of them. They really suck.

@CarolDM I should have stopped at one, too. Live and learn, I guess.

I wish divorcing couples would think more about the emotional well being of their kids before they start acting like morons. It is possible to separate from someone without acting like little brats.

@CarolDM Or they’re so hellbent on revenge that they lose all sense of sanity and rationalization.

You are right that life is too short for drama. Divorce cases involving what happens to the kids is very hard. There are people that have a decent divorce and others have drama. Good idea for her to call the police but what will happen when he gets out of jail?

You are right it is harder to move when have a house. Moving as a renter is no fun either and have to go see places and hopefully find the right one but this time I did not at all and it was a nightmare and now I want to find one we both will like.

That is such a sad way to part.
I cannot imagine how painful it is, but to use your kids as pawns is disgusting.
I hope that the police were able to separate the parties and that they can both cool down and begin to forgive and heal, for the sake of the kids.

That would be scary to see....that's good you know what was going on, but that's not good at all. Hope all will be okay in the end...
