$100 to get vaccinated

I turned on the TV today and saw a briefing from our mayor Bill de Blasio. He said that 80,000+ New Yorkers took advantage of the $100 incentive for getting vaccinated. That's a lot of money they have given out to people. I wonder where it came from...
I bet the majority of those that took advantage of this were those that wanted to get the vaccine but have been putting it off. I think very few anti-vaxxers would do this just to get $100.
De Blasio said that this incentive is working and apparently Biden approves of it and wants other places to do the same thing.

@lovebuglena Because people can't wait and many are afraid of dying.

@Jlyn10 I get that but they should be given this vaccine for free.

@Vikingswest1 is correct those are taxpayers dollars.
I agree with you, those who would have got the vaccine without money are now surely waiting to receive the $ 100.

@lovebuglena Those that got the vaccine before should start a legal action for discrimination and ask to be paid the $ 100.

@LadyDuck That is a good idea. Maybe someone will do that.

Those that got the vaccine before this incentive probably wish they held off on it until now...

It's a bribe. Happens every year during flu season. You couldn't pay me enough to get the jab, thank you.

Same here. No amount of money will make me get it.

@kaylachan I wonder how often they are gonna make people get booster shots. Is it going to be like the flu that you have to get it every year?

@kaylachan It boggles my mind why people rushed to get the vaccine, especially those that never had covid to begin with, when it's still in testing, not approved by the FDA, and doesn't even prevent you from getting covid in the first place.

8 million taxpayer dollars will go to pay for this.
And you're right. These people were likely to get the vaccine on their own and just took the "free money."
Those not willing to trust the safety wouldn't take it regardless of the bribe.

I bet those that don't trust the safety of the vaccine wouldn't do it for thousands of dollars either.

@lovebuglena yea its probably not everybody solution, but do you think any good idea to keep more people vaccinated ?

@FitriansyahP vaccine is not as effective as they say since people can still get it; and no one knows how these people will feel when they do. Enough people still get covid and they go through hell.

I bet most of those that took advantage of it were either those that wanted to get it but kept putting it off, or those that were really desperate for that $100. Those against the vaccine would not cave and get it just for $100.

That's a lot of money to spend on something like that. They probably were going to get the vaccine anyway. It may have prompted some people that were procrastinating to go and get the shot sooner.

That’s what I think. Those against it would never get vaccinated for just $100.
