Problems on Craig's List?

Do you ever sell or buy on Craig's List? It's a online site to buy and sell locally.
I listed some scale die cast collectable NASCAR series cars that belonged to my brother in law who died a few years ago.
I have received THREE scam replies. They really want the cars, but because of "various" reasons can't pick them up and want to send me a cashier's check. And they'll even send me an extra $75 for my trouble!
The cars are only selling for $30. The emails are identical except for the reasons and the extra amount that's supposed to appeal to my greed.
This is why you're supposed to deal locally, in person, and in cash.
It's really not worth the irritation. Have you received scam offers on anything before?

It's sad how obvious the scam offers are. It's also sad how some who do not know any better will accept them.
I had one woman recently who made me think she was gearing up to ask if I would send her the yarn for free. I can't be sure that is what was going to happen, but it was so similar to something I'd seen play out in my crochet groups on facebook.

Yeah, one time a woman wanted some Gospel CD's I was selling on FB, but then said she couldn't afford them. Who knows. I sent them to her anyway.

@1creekgirl Right. Sometimes you just have to decide whether to be nice and lose a sale, or to just ignore the person.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I wouldn't have done that every time, but I just took a chance that she might bless someone else.

I don't sell on Craig's List because I don't want to deal directly with strangers. I've never received a scam offer.

Over the years I've sold a couple of things on craigs list, but it was to local people. Now days though, everything seems a little more dangerous.

I usually use ebay or FB local yard sales, but decided to try Craig's List.
