Well, It Happened AGAIN....

You can't really do anything but feel sorry for these people. Seriously. This isn't anything to laugh at, or to "celebrate." We've had yet another anti-vaxxer succumb to covid. In this case, it was Nashville conservative talk show host Phil Valentine, the son of the late Democratic congressman Tim Valentine. On July 11 Valentine announced, via Facebook, "The rumors are true. I have covid. Unfortunately, for the haters out there, it looks like I'm going to make it." He decided to take a couple of days off from his Nashville talk show to be cautious. He never went back to work. His family claimed he was not an anti-vaxxer; however, a June tweet said, "If you're getting your child vaccinated in light of this new CDC information, you're an idiot." He also claimed the reports of hospitals being overwhelmed were false. Later he was hospitalized and his family begged people to get vaccinated. There's an old joke about a man who refused to leave his home as the rain kept falling and the river kept rising. He was on his porch and a boat came by, saying, "Come on, let us rescue you!" The man shook his head, saying, "God's going to take care of me." Later he was on the second floor, hanging out the window, and another boat came by, offering to take him away. "God's going to take care of me!" Later a Coast Guard helicopter tried to pluck him off the roof but he refused, saying, "God's going to take care of me." Well, he drowned. When he got to Heaven he said to St. Peter at the gates, "What happened?" St. Peter replied, "We sent two boats and a helicopter. What else did you want?" While that's humorous, it does highlight a very serious verse of Scripture: DO NOT test God. It's in Deuteronomy 6:16, and Jesus repeated it when Satan was tempting Him to rebuff the temptation. God gave us common sense. I believe in God, but I have locks on my door. And I wear my seat belt. And I take my asthma medications. Yes, and I got vaccinated. The people who are supposedly mocking the medical advances that God has blessed us with (author of the book of Luke and the Acts, St. Luke, was a physician, remember) are not, in the eyes of this believer, doing anything that might lead others to faith. And if a believer sees it that way, what do the unbelievers think? Phil Valentine was 61. A news article about Valentine's death and his stance against covid:
Longtime conservative talk radio host Phil Valentine has died from COVID-19.

Such a sad happening but the choices were up to him alone, I do not want the vac but I keep to myself and I am mostly just at home and not risking anything,

My husband and I are fully vaccinated. We limit our time away from home. ( That part is fine with me, I love my home ). When we do go out, we bring our masks and wear them. We take every precaution and keep our immunity systems strong. I'm always trying to stay at least one step ahead of the virus uncertainties. These are the choices that we make every day. Others make the choices that they want to make. We'll see how things work out as time continues. Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully we will all be here to talk about the latest news.

You would think that would wake others up to how serious it can be. But they still wont get the vaccine or wear a mask

Well said. People are fools if they don’t get vaccinated. I don’t buy the fear of needles, the fact that it hasn’t been approved by the FDA ( the coronavirus has been around for ages and the vaccine only had to be tweaked a bit for covid-19), or those that claim their civil rights not to get vaccinated. The unvaccinated are dropping like flies. Too bad. I guess it’s their right. I get a sordid kick from those in the hospital now swearing they will get vaccinated when (IF) they recover. To be honest, we are not sure if our nephew, now living in Miami, is vaccinated or not. If not, he’s not allowed nor welcomed to come for Thanksgiving, his favorite holiday, in my house!

Very sad that nobody thinks of his family. And he should not be remembered as an "anti vaxxer". I met him many times, along with his sweet family. A great guy. My thoughts are with his family as they have lost a loving husband, father, and his brothers and sister have lost a sibling. Phil Valentine received numerous AIR Awards (Achievement in Radio) in Philadelphia and Nashville and the Gold World Medal for Best Talk Show Host from the New York Festivals International Radio Awards. Those are the things he should be remembered for.

I can’t help but wonder, if Valentine didn’t have the moniker “conservative radio talk show host,” if this would’ve even made national news. I did notice that they have a photo of Jesse Jackson getting his covid shot in the articles about him being hospitalized with covid.

People are free to make their own decisions; but I think not getting vaccinated makes no sense to me. Sorry to hear about Valentine.
