Hi guys,
Hope you all are doing good and relaxing with your family. I am doing good too. Today is the Hindu festival of "Raksha Bandhan".
The significance of "Raksha Bandhan" dates back to Hindu Mythology i.e. in Indian epic Mahabharata, Draupadi the wife of Pandavas had tied a cloth from her saree on the wrist of Lord Shri Krishna to stop the bleeding.
Since then, this festival is celebrated in India and mainly in North India. Raksha means "Protection" and Bandhan means "Bonding". On this day, sisters tie Rakhi on brothers wrist and the brothers in turn gives them gifts and a promise to protect them always.
Raksha Bandhan is a very important festival celebrated across different areas, states and cities of India. The sisters do pooja of their brothers, tie Rakhi and eat sweets thereby getting gifts too.
I just thought to share it with you guys. Have a happy Sunday. Take care!!
