I suppose The Swan and Dog could have been a name for some English pub :-)
Not sure if that was his inspiration, but when I finally made it abroad this summer I went to Helsinki to visit my friend and her dog. The dog loves swimming and although he has been attacked by a swan before he tried to hang out with one again. The swan wasn't having it, and luckily the dog decided to turn around before they met.
Have you had any scary bird encounters?

@Torunn Wow really tried messing with it and broke the kids arm, that's crazy. Yeah I never mess with birds period. I always think they come back and crap on my head just for fun. ![](/Content/images/emotes/rofl.gif)

This one had spent some time chasing another swan so it was already bad-tempered. I think it was two swan families, and the fathers weren't really friends.
Ravens are really smart, so it might have tried the trick before and found out that it worked ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

@LadyDuck I've got lot of pictures from somewhere in Germany of a swan chasing of it's offspring from last year. It was quite a spectacle. I prefer to have some distance between me and them, they're big birds.
That's not a pleasant experience! Not too smart of the raven, maybe it was one of the dumber ones ;-)

Birds have flown into me, but I have never been attacked by a bird.
A Danish man who was sailing on a kayak was attacked by a swan, and he fell out of the kayak. He was able to swim and nothing happened to him, but it was a shocking experience.

This swan was showing off to some people on those stand up surfboards and to kayakers just before it decided to come closer to the shore to scare the dogs.
Maybe because it was swimming around outside the house of Finnish precident (or prime minister? I never remember), it felt like it was in charge of the place.

That dog's face says it all. What a great picture that took.

Swans and geese are both fairly aggressive. No scary bird encounters that I can recall.

Birds can be quite mean, people do not think of them that way , unless like a eagle or vultures but all wild birds can, they are decedents of dinosaurs after all. Never mess with crows either that murder of crows saying is true. They band together like no other species if you harm or kill one of them.
