An Amazing movie review.

Every few years a movie comes along which shines like a diamond among coal. Spectacular writing and direction blanketed in acting above what is expected from even amazing actors. The movie I mean here is: Reminiscence (2021) currently showing in theaters and streaming on HBOmax. The story is a masterpiece by writer/director Lisa Joy. (producer and writer of shows like Westworld and Burn Notice) Her story follows a non-linear path through time which is crucial to the plot device of reminiscense where the main character can take a person into a replay of their memories where what we remember may not be the whole truth. The acting choices may be the icing on an already delicious cake. Hugh Jackman as Nick Bannister may be his best role ever portrayed. With a name like Jackman sometimes it is easy to seperate one from a role but his talent makes the character beyond believable as if that is the real man and the actor is a role. Rebecca Ferguson as Mae has escalated her to a level with Jackman. This part, like her ones previously as Faust in Mission Impossible movies and Rose the Hat in Doctor Sleep, puts on display a talent to become her role and not just acting it. Thirdly, supporting actors rearly get the limelight in reviews but I must place Thandiwe Newton as Emily 'Watts' Sanders on the same level as Jackman and Ferguson. Her performance from beginning to end was amazing. From bad a** gun welding fighter to functioning alcoholic to emotional crutch to ALL the other functions her character played to me made her a third leading role and not a support actor. I personally believe Lisa Joy felt the same because neither leading actors finished our story but instead it was Watts. *Warning* none of the previews will prepare you for what you will find in this amazing tale. Movie Quote: Nick Bannister: Forgotten things can always be fished up and dusted off. But the lost, those things people never really took much notice of until they were gone. They're defined by their absence.
