It was a Probable Bank Fraud

It was about two weeks ago. A phone call came to me at about half past eleven. The caller told he was speaking from the State Bank of India and that my account was closed and my ATM service was suspended. He told that the account would be reopened and my ATM card could be made operational if I followed the steps he was proposing. I doubted at the authenticity of the caller but also was in two minds because my account is definitely suspended due to non-use. I had been thinking of making it operational again for some time. Here was an offer to make it so. The fellow went ahead with guiding me through the steps of reviving my account. From the voice I guessed he must have been of 20 to 24 years. However, as I was busy with school admission of orphan children I excused myself and cut off the conversation. I wanted to check if everything was well with my family account, where some money is there.I got to check yesterday that it is fine. Some banks have put up a warning notice about such fraudsters going round. Many customers have been robbed of their hard earned money by such scams. I was almost close to being a victim of such a scam. Have you ever come to such a situation?

Thank God you discontinued your conversation. I'm pretty sure it's a fraud. As far as I know a bank will never call it's customer asking for details.

You are right. It was wrong of me to talk with him even for a minute.

Yes,bank never does that..we should be careful. When my card was out of service ,bank didn't even inform me Maybe they don't care if our card's validity is expired or not...as everything is online now

For me the safest way to find out is to contact official contat number for customer service provided by your bank. Told them that you received phone call abiut your suspended account but you're suspect it's fraud
