The heat won. I’m too sick to play today. My 2021 tournament total: one played, one won. Not bad. But I’ll be there for my brothers. And I’m here for you, with another great song from The Rolling Stones.
#8: As Tears Go By
Welcome to the ballad portion of the countdown! It’s amazing how these guys could do ballads.
And, as both yesterday’s song (“Ruby Tuesday”) and today’s show, they could do ballads.
Hardly what you’d expect from “rock’s bad boys,” but that’s what makes it so good.
As Tears Go By
Written by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Andrew Long Oldham
From December’s Children (And Everybody’s), 1965

One of my favorites from the Stones. Another terrific ballad they did was "Wild Horses." Gets me every time!

Hold that thought (and your horses), it’ll be along soon enough.

Yup, I know this one. I'm sorry you weren't feeling well enough to compete. :-(
