I'm doing my best to control mine. My mom passed her diabetes onto me and I have to be really careful. But it's on my mind most of the time. I'm wondering if any of you have any alternatives to keep it in check. And no, salty snacks doesn't seem to help. I did discover something in Costco called Smart Sweets.
Instead of sugar, the company uses Stevia. I was wondering if anyone has tried them and if they have helped. I have just worked my way through one bag over a two week period and I am now wondering how long it takes. I still craving sugar. Maybe two weeks just isn't long enough??

Stevia should be just as sweet as sugar, no? I hope you can get over your sugar cravings. I have a sweet tooth too.

I don't have this problem, but my husband does--diabetes runs in his family and they all crave sugar. I just don't keep it in the house much and so that helps I think--

My husband is Type 2 diabetic but thankfully doesn't have sugar cravings. Nevertheless, I don't keep many sweet things in the house. I use Splenda in recipes that need sugar and that is always successful.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. That sounds like a whole lot of not fun.
The theory is that the more your body was addicted to sugar, the longer it will take to get rid of the addictions / cravings. I do not know if this is true. It may be bunch of hooey.
The other theory is that eating fruits may help your cravings since fruit is sweet.
Also, there may be You Tube videos on this topic that may or may not help you.
I hope this gets better for you.

The key to curing cravings, is to allow the forbidden item with moderation. Check your numbers, and depending on where they are, adjust accordingly. Bare in mind, not just sugar affects numbers. So do a little trial and error and see what works best for you, and how your number's fair.
