A strong (category 2 for now) hurricane is moving towards the gulf coast. Should make landfall Sunday night. And is expected to be a category 4 when it makes landfall.
Tomorrow will mark the 16th year anniversary for hurricane Katrina (category 5) that devastated the New Orleans area.
I have friends in the area. My friend that is on hospice. I am concerned and hope they can get evacuated soon. Their area is only expected heavy rains and wind for now, but the storm could turn to the left or right. You never know since these storms are so unpredictable. A scary time for sure.
We will get rain tomorrow and Monday. But nothing like my friends to the south.
We also have some members here that may be in the path of the storm.
I hope everyone stays safe. Thoughts are with you all.
Photo above is the latest on the storm.

I remember that storm Katrina very well. We had just bought a new full size car, with a full size gas tank, and I stopped at the gas station to fill it and felt the aftermath of the hurricane as the price at the pumps was outrageous.
I liked that car until I had to fill the tank, it was all downhill after that.
I hope that your friends and those that live in that area are safe.

@CarolDM It will be reflected at our pumps as well. My hubby told me that he's been hearing that early next week our prices will jump.
Here, they lower the price as the day wears on, so he will go and fill up on Tuesday night. His SUV has a big tank, my car isn't driven too often and doesn't have a huge tank, but I should fill it also.

@CarolDM Whenever there's a hurricane approaching, Michigan weather is harsh.

Seems the hurricanes are hitting on the Gulf side this season. People have to be on constant alert in the Southern U.S. this time of year

I am saying a prayer for all those in the path of the storm. I have friends in Ocean Springs and Pascagoula MS . They are also suppose to be impacted by Ida as well. I worry for them. Special prayers for your friend I hope they get evacuated soon.
