What is one (two, three, four, I don't care, tell me more!) thing that you believe people take for granted. It could be cars, air, money, food.. What do you think people take for granted the most?
Me? Earth's resources. Water, air, land of any sort.. We just take and take, and mostly all for granted. Not caring, or not thinking of others and the future.
Oh and technology.. We take that for granted too.

@rakski You're right. I decided to improve my health during this pandemic and I've lost so much weight because of it.

Absolutely! We often neglect what our bodies are trying to tell us.

I agree with you. We often lack some basic skills that will help us when we are in dire straits. I admire those who live off the grid and survive only on their crops and livestock.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I admire those who can survive with their products and are good in fixing things in their homes. I have to learn to do better.

True! A few years ago there was a coal ash spill here and people were so unprepared / greedy with buying up water to use for drinking and bathing. We waste too much water too. I know i do, even when I try not to.

Yes, there are those who remain grateful. They are the ones who have struggled the most.

I agree with you. People take clean air and a clean environment for granted by polluting, polluting, polluting. Our oceans are full of plastic; and our air is full of crap.

Absolutely! We just take and take and take without fear of the future. I've seen those little documentaries the weather channels hows about what to expect the earth will look like in 100 years if we keep going at this rate.

@LindaOHio That's a very real possibility, unfortunately. We have to do something about that.

Water and air...for sure. it seems plentiful now if you live in certain areas, but it may not always be that way. If you live in the west you already know how scarce water can be.

Two fundamental things for survival. Not just water and air, but clean water and air. I don't even want to think of how many areas across this world have limited access to those things.

@snowy22315 Or how each day it becomes even more scarce.
Between wildfires, logging etc, we've got to make sure we truly are replenishing with each tree we cut down.

We shouldn't take tapping into the natural resources for granted and should protect our global village.

Oh that's a good one! The be all and end all to most things. People go stir cray when the power goes out, the air or heat is out, food spoils, no entertainment...

I think a lot of things because they are simply there and so they are used to them, I take nothing for granted because I always have to be making more money, always have to make sure I have enough food and so I am thankful for what I do have,

I am the same way. I worry about money all the time, I worry about the future. I envy those who do not have to think on these things. Recently I qualified for food stamps and I was beyond happy.

I think water for sure. At least here in the US. There is a critical fresh water shortage (or clean drinking water more specifically) on this planet, and yet we use and waster water like there was no tomorrow. Probably the worst thing I see around here is that every yard has an irrigation system, and those sprinklers run every damn day regardless of how much rain we've had. People need to quit taking water for granted and quit wasting it so much.

@moffittjc A dream is to one day own a tiny home with a rain water system. Getting used to using less now is key.

It's an endless cycle with the water situation. We destroy our atmosphere, changing the weather patterns slightly and causing less rain, especially in the areas that need it the most. I turn off the water between everything I do in the shower (hair, shaving, body etc) so that I don't waste, but I need to do the same when washing dishes too.

@ScribbledAdNauseum we have become so busy in the lifestyle that we defy the nature and every time as a consequence we face the wrath of nature and many loose life. It's high time we need to handle our step towards nature very carefully

One of the most or no. 1 commonly taken for granted is TIME! One of the most important thing in life is time! We only live once and we also have limited time in everything! We often give value to our time or respect the time of others! We don't give much time to so many things. Time is as precious as our lives or anything else mentioned in the comments!
We should give time to ourselves, families, nature, to friends and give time to thinks what is really out purpose in life. Give time to talk to God! Time to appreciate things that we have! Time for ourselves to be happy!

Oh yes! Too much dumping of waste into our waters. There are power plants around here that are also right next to major water sources. The same water we use to drink.
