About five years ago, I bought three plants that I thought were guavas.. i planted them in big pots and they thrived.. I looked forward to see them bear fruits because i love eating guavas and they are very expensive to buy here..
When we went to the Philippines and stayed there for two months, We came back to find my potted guavas died, because my son didn't bother watering them.. I started to water them everyday even if they looked dead.. They became alive again..Early this years they gave us a lot fruits. But they were not guavas.. My neighbour said they were feijoas which I've never heard of before..I was kind of disappointed that they were not guavas.. But when I tasted it, I loved it..It has a very distinct taste and scent.. I could not get enough of it..
You'll know that the fruits are ripe and ready to eat when they drop off the tree.. I now love it more than I love guavas... I'm so glad I have three of them in the garden..
I read that they are rich in Vitamins C, B, E and K .. so it is full of anti-oxidant.. I've only seen them once in the fruit shop and they are very expensive to buy..I'm getting them for free... Its now one of my new favourite fruits...
What are your favourite fruits?.. Have you tasted feijoa?..

Yes they look like guavas , but unlike guavas, you don't eat the skin.. And the skin stays green when ripe..Very nice tasting fruit..

I've never tried them - or guavas. Do you eat the seed part or scoop that out?
