Are the shelves getting empty again?

I am beginning to take more notice of what is and isn't on the shelves at the store. I intend to buy more of things when I can. I want to get ahead of everyone else by buying more things each week instead of panicking at the last minute. Have you noticed the shelves emptying faster in your stores? I have noticed some holes, but mostly at Walmart. A good indicator for me is our local grocery store. They struggled the most trying to keep things on the shelves. Are you buying more foods now in anticipation of a scarcity / the weather?

Not been to a physical store in a long time..I have not been to one since the pandemic. I am ordering online. Even our local grocery store is encouraging us to order through their apps.

I've not tried buying online and I am not sure I would. To me it's like getting a new person who could carry the virus every time you order. At the store the employees rarely change.

@arunima25 Oh wow! I like the way they have implemented this. It keeps everyone safe and makes a lot of sense.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We have a no-contact delivery policy here in our apartment. The delivery boy delivers stuff at the security where they put it in a box for few hours after sanitizing them. Later the same security personnel allocated to our building comes to deliver it to us around 5 in the evening. So, anything delivered after that will come to us the next day. And they do proper sanitization there in the room of delivery. If it is a perishable item, we need to go out and take it. So, I make sure that I choose the delivery slot carefully so that the perishable items also come around 5 PM.

I’m not buying more food since we no longer have snap abs I don’t have a lot of room for extras. So I get what we need weekly. I didn’t noticed that when I weren’t to the store Wednesday that there low Stock of milk. I grabbed one knowing we where out and then on Saturday when I went to get water for my son’s outside part the milk was all gone out of stock at least for whole milk.

@ScribbledAdNauseum no we won’t be getting SNAP again unless my husband pay get cut he makes to much right now for a family of 5 by like $40. With or without the pandemic that doesn’t affect there qualitification. Also school just started abs we have hurricane season so there was a hurricane rain this weekend so maybe peopel thought it would be really bad. Because we do get hit hard not as hard as those by the beach since we are more inland but the hard winds and strong rain can me power outage and flooded roads

I recently went through the process and qualified for SNAP. I wonder if you could try again as the pandemic is effecting everything and you might be able to get it again? Milk has been plentiful so far, but I am waiting for that to get scarce here.

I have not been in store to know that, but it does seem that deliveries are missing items.

I've seen the struggle with a restaurant we use frequently. People are struggling as a whole. I am beginning to take more precautions again.

Walmart has a lot of "out of stock" items. We have a good supply of paper products, canned foods, etc.

Yes walmart seems to be the worst for out of stocks at the moment. I am starting to stock up but also finding I need to re-organize and make more room.

@LindaOHio Sounds like a good place to keep it though. Making sure you guys never run out. I've considered doing Un-Toilet Paper. That is using things like washcloths that are specifically designed for cleaning. I also want to get a bidet.

We can't be too careful. I am taking notice of the shelves and will pick things up if it seems like it's low without reason.

I noticed many empty shelves. I am re-stocking some things because I know the price will go up and we risk not to find for some weeks.

Pretty and I have been buying and storing a lot more foods than normal lately. We were noticing yesterday that there were holes in the heat and eat sections of the store. Especially in canned soups and dried soups. (We've been buying canned and dried stuff much more than usual and have been storing them in large plastic totes in the back of the kitchen. More canned meats, too. Walmart was out of the soups we preferred and completely out of any type of canned meats yesterday.) We're buying more because we have the extra money now and it's possible we won't have it later...

Not a bad idea. I've actually qualified for SNAP. It's been on the back of my mind for years to try, but the BF was the one to encourage me to just go ahead and try.
