The second in our state in as many months.
I learned about it because a friend's sister was close by and freaking out. The friend messaged me about it. The HS is several miles away, nowhere near me really.
One student dead, I think a few injured. Suspect in custody, and that's all we really know. Might have been a fellow student.
Too many of these things happening...

This is true. There was one near the beach like a week before this one happened. Something has got to give with this. Mental health checkups for the students or something.

@ScribbledAdNauseum More police in the hallways, maybe... Or go with only online classes from now on. It would be hard to shoot your classmates if you only see them online.

@DaddyEvil Onlne only would just leave a world full of socially isolated kids.
Yeah, more police in the hallways. I remember seeing the resource officer at our schools, but it wasn't often.

The whole world has been anxious the past two years. It could have something to do with that, it could be something totally different. I intend to find an update and see if the police have figured out the motive.

@ScribbledAdNauseum So sad, esp. high school. Teen years are hard but I've often wondered what makes young folk that depressed - you still have time to live awesome lives

@FayeHazel I wonder how large a role technology and especially social media plays in it. Your comment happened to make me think. I am pretty sure that the kids were in virtual learning for the majority of last year and this is the first time they've been back in classes. School just started too, so whatever the reasoning must have been stewing online.

Yes! Something has got to give. Whether the students have mandatory mental health checkups sponsored by the school or something!

I'm so sorry to hear this. We obviously are not doing are job with realizing when a young person is having difficulties handling life.

You are right about that. I need to see what the update on the situation is. I know all the schools in the area were put on lockdown, and I think some students weren't allowed to leave the school (where the shooting was) until around 8 PM that night.
We've got to do better for the students and their families.

@LindaOHio Agreed. Families need to pay more attention to each other.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes. I remember my parents telling me "You're too young to be depressed" instead of addressing the issue. That could be what is happening with these young people that take it out on their classmates, etc.
