Today's freebies from work: coffee cake and more

I forgot and put away almost everything before remembering to take a picture, so at least you can have this picture of the coffee cake. By the way, this cake is absolutely delicious and moist. Don't let the "gluten-free" label scare you away -- even my picky kids really like it!
Anyway, today I came home with these items from the culls area at work: this coffee cake, a Beckmann's Bakery cherry pie (with a butter crust!
), a gallon of whole milk, and a tub of Nancy's cultured cream cheese.
In addition to the freebies, I purchased a carton of half & half (for morning coffees) and 2 lbs. of fresh broccoli (since I'm planning to make beef and broccoli for dinner).
How has your day been? I'm pretty tired now, but at least we'll have a good dinner. Two of the kids' schools have Back To School Night tonight (fortunately all on Zoom), so it's going to be pretty hectic here.

I haven't been sleeping well either, and a lot of other people have complained of the same. I'm so glad I get to sleep in a little bit tomorrow morning.

@spiderdust I am pretty sure that this virus situation is stressing us more than we think, thus the reason not to sleep well.

@LadyDuck I agree. It was such a relief to get the vaccine, there was the hope of "returning to normal", but it seems we were too hasty in celebrating.

Enjoy your freebies!
It has been hectic at work even though we are working from home. Some clients and admittedly a lot of managers and staff at work are drama queens and primadonnas. Main reason why I want to get out of here. I know offices have their share of drama queens/primadonnas but I'm done dealing with this group.
Looking forward to the weekend which is twenty minutes away from now.

Happy weekend for us!
I also had to deal with some prima donna behaviors from coworkers today, but kitchens are often notoriously staffed with people with strong personalities.

@allen0187 That must have been frustrating! It's so hard to get work done that way.

You can keep the coffee cake but do try to save me a little of the broccoli and beef. YUM!
I hope you and the kids have fun on Zoom.

@spiderdust That doesn't seem fair. If you have to have "school", so should the kids.

@DaddyEvil Now that I've gone through the experience, I can verify that having the kids on there along with all of the parents would definitely have been disruptive.

Strangely, the kids don't get to participate. It's mandatory for parents to attend, or so they say, but I'm not sure what the consequence would be if we just skipped it.

It's not coffee flavored, but a cake that one can have along with coffee. It's actually a cinnamon streusel cake.

I'm glad you don't have to run over to their school tonight! After work, that's hard to fit in. Especially when you have to fix dinner for your family, too. Finding enough time for cleanup would be almost impossible.

I'm tired, too. But, I had an early day. One in which I had to set an alarm. Though oddly, both my husband and I were awake before it sounded. Still listened to what the weather would be. Then I turned it off.
My hubby and I ran some erronds, then it was work and other things for me. Looking forward to relaxing, but I have laundry to do after dinner.

I am very thankful that it is now Friday and I have a few days off, even though I have a busy weekend ahead.

I got another free coffee cake on Friday! It's already half gone.
