How the heck would you do a virtual taste test?

So, I was looking online for focus groups and I found one that is on snacking and includes a virtual taste test..Now how could you do a virtual taste test, unless they send you the product in advance and you taste it while you are doing the group? I mean, the only other thing I could think of is that they have the bag or box of the product and describe it, and show it, and you have to tell them how you think it would taste. Sounds kind of bizarre to me. However, if selected, (which I doubt) I guess they will explain more.

I'd think it would be the first thing. They send you the product and then you record yourself tasting it.

@snowy22315 Kind of weird, but I remember getting a few similar kinds on prolific. It's more about your perception and less about the actual taste.. I guess it helps their marketing.

We shall see. I get the impression they may be looking for younger people so not too likely.

@DocAndersen It doesn't bother me and some don't care. When you get to be over 70 though, you may be out of luck. Alot of them use that as a cut off..like if you're old you no longer have an opinion or something.

One of my husband's survey sites once arranged a virtual taste test. My husband wasn't selected to participate. They sent candy to the people who were selected and they had to discuss their opinons online.

I did something like that one time as part of a survey panel, and it was a lot of fun. It was a group strictly devoted to popcorn and you can to taste all different kinds and flavors. I liked that group!

That's a really weird taste. But if they send you the samples, then it's possible.

No, but I know they do them. Altria, which used to be Phillip Morris here does some of those kinds of tests with smokers and non smokers.

@snowy22315 that sounds a bit complicated but maybe they are just looking for input as to what you think it would taste like. Definitely not as much fun as actual tasting

I wonder about that too. I am thinking perhaps "virtual" means you don't need to go there to do the taste test, but you will get the products and taste it, then you'll send them your "results". Do let us know if you have selected and how it is about. Hope you'll get selected.

Virtual taste test??? I cannot see how can you taste a product virtually. Unfortunately this has not yet been invented.

I think they may kind of guide you through with a video at least that is how some are down apparently. What is the fun in that?

Wow that would be tough, but either of those scenarios makes sense.... how do you think this would taste? Or send it to you ahead of time. Did you end up getting selected?
