False hope…

After arriving home yesterday evening, I was exhausted but my shin didn’t hurt. And so i thought, i was probably ready to pick up my rope and start jumping again.
Then I took a shower and guess what happened next? I felt that tiny bit of pain and told myself, what a shame. So i took an ice pack and iced my shins again.
I am observing myself this morning though and checking if my shins are fully recovered or maybe i still have to wait a couple more days before i start jumping again. Oh i miss my jump rope a lot.

@toniganzon Good luck to you! I am 60 years old and doubt I could jump rope. The last time I did was in my 30's when I was teaching my daughter how to jump rope.

Oh i have seen a lot of seniors doing the jump rope. It’s actually a low impact activity that won’t hurt your legs and knees as long as you do it right. Jump shouldn’t be more than one inch. A very low jump. And there’s a proper way of holding the rope, it’s just the wrist that’s moving. My injury was caused by overdoing it coz i was enjoying it too much. @dfollin

Actually I’m dong rehab exercises. It is a must for shin splints. It’s not that serious so there’s no need for a doctor @allknowing

Jump rope is a low impact exercise actually. Way better than running. And it’s the activity that i love doing the most. I find it fun. It’s the jumping per se that caused my injury. I was just enjoying it too much that i overdid it. So when i restart i just have to take it slow and hold myself back from overdoing it.

Even if you miss jumping rope I think you should wait a bit more to be sure your shins are all right,

Shins always seem to take a long time to heel. I hope you get better soon. When you start jumping again, make sure you don't overdo it. You don't want to re-injure yourself.

Ice treatment seems best. It takes quite a bit to heal shin splints.

Hope you your shin feels better soon. My legs hurt from walking alot. Today I have decided to take it easy. I will start walking again once the pain and tightness goes away.

That sounds like a muscle sore pain. Mine is an injury which requires full stop with my activity. I didn’t stop immediately actually because i thought it was just muscle pain. But it wasn’t and i could have a fracture if i continued.

I think that’s the wisest thing to do. Guess i just have to continue my rehab exercise for this week and will see how my shins are by next week.
