Oh, What a Shock….

Yeah, I found another waterfall.
This one is hardly a “big one,” but it is quite popular among the outdoors people in the state.
It’s called Anglin Falls, and it’s in the John B. Stephenson Memorial Forest near Berea College. Stephenson was a president of Berea College and a lover of the area, so Berea College, who has custody of the forest for preservation purposes, named it in his memory.
As for Anglin Falls, I can’t help but think of Jack Anglin of Johnnie & Jack. So I sang “Ashes of Love” while I started on the trail to the falls.
For the most part the trail was easy to transverse. Since we’d recently had rain from the remnants of Ida there was mud in a few places (but that’s why we wear hiking boots!), and a couple of places where tree roots made the footing not all that sure, but overall it was a pleasant, not-too-difficult hike. Unfortunately, getting too near the falls wasn’t possible because of my gimpiness (I have a t-shirt that says “I do all my own stunts,” so crawling over fallen trees, rocks, and down a slope wasn’t a smart move….so I turned down the desire to get closer).
The hike was quite sufficient compensation, and I did get a couple of distant shots of part of the falls.
Just another great waterfall day!
Pretty sure Anglin Falls wasn’t named for this Anglin (Jack Anglin, singing lead on Johnnie & Jack’s hit “Ashes of Love”)
