Overprotective parents

I have parents who don't let me go out on my own even to the next-door grocery shop. I have never travelled alone. I have had my father accompany me to school.
And what's the net result of all of this? I can't travel alone now. I feel lost when I go out alone now. I entered college this year. It's a residential one. SO, I am training myself to be self-sufficient. But, it's hard.
I don't blame my parents for this. But too much love always isn't right. Overdoing something always isn't right.
Did you have overprotective parents? If yes, did it affect you in the later phase of life? Don't get me wrong...I am lucky to have loving parents but they are overprotective

I think it's not good to be overprotective. Later we can't do things of our own or decision making in important situations will be hard to make. So try to stand alone and try to solve things of your own.
This doesn't mean you should not ask help or advice of your parents. I just said these are the few ways to overcome it.

Yes. It has made me dependent on my parents. Even when I go shopping, I can't decide what to buy. I seek advice from mom. It's been the same legacy since childhood!!

@Dreamerby Now when you go back to your college try to develop your own decision making skills. You will be living in a hostel there I guess. We will fall when we learn to walk. But it shouldn't hold you next time when you take decision.

Oh dear I am so sorry to hear it
I know they had good in mind for you but now you will have a little hard time to overcome it, however, I have faith in you and your abilities to shine through this time.
You can do it!!!

It's opposite in my case
You need to learn to do things without others help so as to not face problems in future when you are alone.
I hope you break out of this overprotection and start being on your own

I do not have overprotective parents.
Sometimes, paremts tend to be overprotective if the location or area is bad, if there are robbers or cheats lurking around.

i think it's not good to be over-protective, that's not how life works. they won't be able to always be there to protect you, you need to figure things out yourself.
