Yes i am back to jumping!
Currently icing my shin as I Mylot. Just finished my 5 minute jump rope. It’s an interval by the way. 30 minute jump, 30 minutes rest as advised by experts in getting back to jump rope after an injury.
I feel good because now I have a jump rope and i know what to do right after.
To those who aren’t familiar with the purple tube in the photo, that’s a roller foam. I use it to roll on my shin to stretch the muscles. It helps a lot with the pain too.
As to the skipping mat, i won’t recommend it. It’s the first time i used it today after it arrived two or three weeks ago. Now i tested it, i won’t recommend it. I might buy a circular mat or a square mat for skipping rope next time.

This one is really cheap. Less than $8 but the good ones i want to get are in the prince range o $80-$90.

As to the thickness, it’s ok. But it does’t lay as flat as the expensive ones. @RebeccasFarm

Shin splints due to overusing. I enjoyed jumping too much that i overdid it. Beginners are suppose to start slow at 5 minutes three times a week. I enjoyed jumping too much that would jump daily and two times a day for 10 minutes. I was also not using a jumping mat which was a terrible mistake.

Do you have a yoga mat that you could substitute for that mat? Or any type of foam mat in your house? The surface you are jumping on can make a big difference in the stress that is placed on your legs, knees and shins.

Yoga mat is not advisable. This is ok for now. It lessens the impact. What i find annoying with this mat is it’s too short and when the rope hits the edge of the mat it disrupts my jumping.

Right. I saw a circular one being used but it’s big. And i think i should get hat one. I have no issue with the thickness os this one. It’s great for jumping except for the length. @moffittjc

@toniganzon I never thought about that. It would get very annoying having the rope hit the mat every time.

I dont rope-jumping; but I should do it, too. I work out for half an hour, 5 days a week to stay physically-n-mentally healthy by lifting weights and push-ups.

Lifting weight is something that i don’t enjoy. But I’m having fun at jump rope.
Glad to see you here again Julio. Hope everything’s fine on your end.

glad you are back to skipping rope. Yesterday I walked with my great-aunt. But I didn't go walking today. I may tomorrow.

Just make sure not to overdo it and injure your shins again.

it's safe but It keeps curling up on the edges. But for jumping, it's really good coz it's thick. it did feel good jumping on it.

I hope you are not in too much pain!
Jumping the rope is a nice activity, I wish I could practice it :(
But indoors i can't without disturbing the neighbors..
Maybe I will try it in the summer time outside in a parc.

Jump rope can be done indoors and it doesn’t make noise. That’s the convenience of a jump rope it can be done anywhere and everywhere.

Skipping rope as a kid is totally different in skipping rope as an adult. When i was a kid i enjoyed it a lot but i realized now i was doing it the wrong way back then. The jump shouldn’t be too high just an inch. And it’s the wrist that should only be moving and not the whole arm and there’s a proper sizing of the rope.

Use the foam roller on your thighs and calf muscles as well.
