Are you good at telling the time by the sun?

Well, sometimes I like to play a game and try to tell the time by the sun, height in sky, length of shadows etc. This morning was a little difficult, because there were some shadows around and it wasn't too sunny, but I played the game, and am happy to report I got the time within two minutes.. I am not usually that accurate but today it worked out quite well. How does your pre clock time telling go?

We used to go to school by looking at the shadow. Today I can do the say but the clock time differs by 15 minutes to half an hour.

It is hard to get it very accurate. That is why I was surprised this morning.

@cacay1 Why not?? It is interesting to see how close you can get to the real time.

Well you know it is straight overhead about noon right? You also know about what time the sun rises and sets..you just look at the angle of the sun in the sky and can judge roughly what time it is.

I'm usually accurate within the hour (or two hour period). Clouds can really mess things up, well that and trees and shadows.

Yeah, it was hard to get a good bead on the sun today due to those factors so I was surprised I was so accurate..Just call me Squanto..lol.

I can make a guess sometimes, but I usually rely on my wristwatch.

part of the reason I was doing it is that my bedroom clock needs to be reset.

I sometimes can tell approximately what time it is by looking at the sun. Not as accurately as you are though.

It is unusual for me to be within minutes it is usually within a half hour or so..if I am lucky.

That is really very close, I am pretty good at guessing the time using the sun but I have never officially tested myself.

Well you test yourself everytime you look at your cell or clock and see how close your estimate was

It is very hard to get it exact. I mean in most cases you don't have to, so it doesn't really matter.
